How to Get the Most out of Your Email Campaigns

email marketing

One of the best pieces of advice for any new internet marketer is to build a list. If you've been working online for any period of time, you're sure to have heard this advice. And it's true. Without a list where people have opted-in and shown interest in hearing from you, you will be missing out on one of the best marketing tools available.

When customers click on your website, you need to encourage them to join your email list by offering them a hard-to-resist incentive. Then, once they're on your list, you can contact them any time you want. There are two options to consider when you decide to email your list, blast emails or an email series.

A blast email is when you send an email, with the same message, to everyone who signed up for your list. Or, you can divide your list into different interests and only send the blast email to a certain sub-group of your list. A blast email is a very good way to announce a new service or product that you want to tell your subscribers about, or it could be about a special sale you are launching. This kind of email is great for offering your list a coupon for a new sale, too.

An email series is a set number of emails that are prewritten and loaded by you into your autoresponder to automatically be sent out over the days of the campaign. For example, you can create 10 emails and schedule them to go out to your list every day, every other day, or once a week. Everyone who has subscribed to your email list will receive an email from you for that 10-day period. It's easy, fast and completely hands-free once you've loaded the emails into your autoresponder.

But keep in mind that sending these emails is great, but they will not be effective if nobody reads them. Here are some tips to make sure your emails are opened and read.

1. As you write the email, keep your target audience and their needs in mind. If you don't know what they want, send out an email and ask them. So many new marketers ignore this step and then wonder why their email open and response rates are so dismal.

2. Use a headline that will make them curious about your offering. If your headline is good enough, your customers will be eager to open the email. So, spend plenty of time on this step and you'll see results.

3. Keep your message short and specific. Don't let your email drag on because you will lose many of your readers along the way. What they really want to know is how your offer will benefit them. Tell them and then let them make up their own minds.

If you remember these tips, you will get better results and your business will prosper. Contact customers regularly, make your offer relevant to them and you will be glad you added an email list to your marketing efforts. It's a real win-win!
